of the most serious is the risk of injury or illness in a foreign country. Unfamiliarity with
a different culture and medical system is intensified without the proper resources to assist you
in securing medical care and covering the associated costs.
While traditional medical plans offer fine domestic coverage, few are designed for international
use or visitors. Even those that offer limited benefits do not normally cover medically
supervised emergency evacuations, emergency reunions or repatriation. Additional complications
are caused by different languages, currency conversion, inexperienced international claims
administration, and time differences. Imagine trying to get in touch with most insurance
companies at 3:00 a.m. on a weekend - from a foreign country - during a medical emergency!

Sandy's Travel Insurance is able to take care of these situations with a special medical
insurance program underwritten by IMG (International Medical Group).
IMG is dedicated to eliminating these uncertainties from international travel by making
international medical coverage convenient and affordable. There are three different Patriot
Travel Medical Insurance (Short-term Medical Insurance for international travel)
plans available. At enrollment you simply pick the plan that applies to your
citizenship and travel plans. Patriot Travel Medical Insurance provides up to US$1,000,000* of
medical expense coverage, up to US$25,000 in Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage, a
complete assistance package of international benefits and 24 hour availability for your total
peace of mind.

To provide complete protection while you are traveling, each Patriot Travel Medical Insurance
plan includes the following benefits:
- Deductible - your choice of US$100, or $250, $500, $1,000 or $2,500 per insured person, per policy period
- Coinsurance - 80% of all eligible expenses up to US$5,000 then 100% up to the Policy Maximum
- Emergency Evacuation - Policy Maximum when coordinated through IMG
- Repatriation Expenses - US$25,000 when coordinated through IMG
- Emergency Reunion Expenses - US$15,000 when coordinated through IMG
- Local Ambulance Expense - To policy maximum
- Accidental Death and Dismemberment - US$25,000 principal sum
- Hospital Room and Board - Average semi-private room rate up to the Policy Maximum
- Intensive Care - 3x the average semi-private room rate up to the Policy Maximum
- Medical Expenses - Usual, reasonable and customary up to the Policy Maximum
- Outpatient Medical Expenses - Usual, reasonable and customary up to the Policy Maximum
- Benefit Period - Six months
- Period of Coverage - Minimum 15 days and maximum 12 months, any one policy period*
* ExPatriot Plus must be taken out for a minimum of 6 months and is renewable in 6 month increments for 2 years, total
B. Emergency Medical Evacuation and Repatriation:
In the event of a serious accident or illness, emergency treatment at a qualified medical
facility is crucial. If qualified treatment is not available locally, the cost of an
emergency evacuation can be from US$5,000 to US$10,000 - and require payment in advance.
Patriot Travel Medical Insurance includes coverage for emergency medical evacuations up to
the policy limit for each covered person to the nearest qualified medical facility or the
country of citizenship.
IMG provides 24 hour a day, 7 day a week contact from anywhere in the world. Our on site
medical professionals coordinate all aspects of an evacuation with the local medical
providers, the transport company and the receiving hospital. Worldwide coverage ensures
immediate access to qualified treatment for your medical emergency.
Patriot Travel Medical Insurance covers:
- Expenses for Emergency Medical Evacuations to the nearest qualified medical facility or the country of citizenship up to the Policy Maximum.
- Expenses for reasonable travel and accommodations resulting from evacuation.
- The cost of returning to either the country of citizenship or the country where the evacuation occurred.
- Expenses for Repatriation of bodily remains or ashes to the country of citizenship up to a maximum of US$25,000 for a covered injury or illness that results in death.
C. Emergency Reunion:
During a medical emergency having a family member near by brings comfort and peace of mind.
Patriot Travel Medical Insurance includes coverage for the travel and lodging expenses of a
relative or friend during a Emergency Medical Evacuation. The travel expenses for the relative
or friend may be either the cost of accompanying during the evacuation or traveling from the
country of citizenship. The reunion expenses are covered up to US$15,000 for a maximum of 15
days. To make scheduling easier, all arrangements must be approved and coordinated by IMG.
D. Accidental Death and Dismemberment:
Patriot Travel Medical Insurance includes US$25,000 principal sum benefit for Accidental Death
and Dismemberment. For covered Accidental Death or Dismemberment occurring during the period of
coverage, Patriot Travel Medical Insurance will pay as follows:
- Accidental Loss of life: principal sum
- Accidental Loss of two Members: principal sum
- Accidental Loss of one Member: 50% principal sum
"Member" means hand, foot or eye. For additional information please see Conditions of Coverage section
E. Special Coverages
Patriot Travel Medical Insurance includes the following special provisions:
- Incidental Home Country Coverage: During the period of coverage an insured person may return to their country of citizenship for incidental visits of up to two weeks total. The following conditions apply to this coverage:
- The insured person must have left their country of citizenship.
- The Total Period of Coverage must be a minimum of 30 days.
- The return to the country of citizenship may not be taken to receive treatment for a condition incurred while traveling.
- End of Trip - Home Country Coverage: If you are enrolling in Patriot Travel Medical Insurance for a minimum of six months, you may purchase up to one additional month for home country coverage at the time of enrollment.
- Benefit Period: If a covered injury or illness has continuing treatment after the policy expires, the Benefit Period may provide continued coverage. When the policy expires, IMG will review the date of initial treatment for the covered injury or illness. If treatment began less than six months before the policy expired, benefits for the covered injury or illness will continue subject to the Policy Limits until there has been six months coverage. The Benefit Period serves as an extension of benefits and does not limit the treatment time during the Policy Period.
F. Sports and Activities Coverage:
As outlined below, Patriot Travel Medical Insurance includes coverage for basic sports and
optional riders for higher risk, named sports.
The following is not covered:
Amateur or professional sports or other athletic activity which is organized and/or
sanctioned, involving regular or scheduled practices and/or regular or scheduled games.
Unless a named hazardous activity, this exclusion does not include: Amateur athletic activities
which are non-contact and engaged in by an insured person solely for leisure, recreational,
entertainment or fitness purposes.
The following named hazardous activities are excluded but may be added by the Optional Sports
Rider:
Scuba diving, mountain climbing (where ropes or guides are normally used), jet, snow and water
skiing and snowboarding, sky diving, amateur racing, piloting an aircraft, bungee jumping and
spelunking.
G. Eligibility Requirements:
The following conditions apply for all Person's enrolling in Patriot Travel Medical Insurance.
- For those over age 65 and visiting the US, your initial period of Coverage must begin within 30 days of arrival in the U.S. Please attach a copy of your Visitors Visa to the Enrollment Form.*
- This insurance is not available to non-US citizens who are residing in New York, California or Florida at the time of Application. This does not apply when the Effective Date coincides with the individuals departure date.
* If you are not in the US at the time of application please indicate expected date of arrival on enrollment form
